Who's who

The following list is solely to help visitors recognise a few of us and is in no way hierarchical.

Circuit superintendent the Rev. Kerry Tankard.  Kerry has overall charge of the High Peak circuit.  He is supported by a circuit office, a leadership team. and numerous volunteers

Senior steward - Sheila Booth. Sheila leads a team of stewards, whose main responsibility, in conjunction with the preacher,  is to ensure the smooth running of the Sunday services. Sheila is a retired teacher, and actively involved in with village organisations.

Musicians operate on a rota basis. Our church music tends to be traditional hymns interspersed with modern worship songs. The singing is very much of the "joyful noise" style!

Our Youth leader and Sunday School superintendent is Claire Crook. Claire has gathered around her a small but enthusiastic team, who have a special interest in young people.

Claire's husband, Steve is one of the team of stewards and is helpful in many other ways.

SarahSarah Elson is an active member of our congregation, serving on our development group. She also is heavily involved in "Cake church" which meets midweek in Chapel en le Frith.

Local preacher(rtd.) - Colin Smith. Although Colin is retired from lecturing at Manchester Metropolitan University and from Circuit preaching he continues to co-ordinate and sometimes leads the home group. He has published two books (details here).

Local Preacher - Stephen Jay  Stephen Jay, a lecturer at Liverpool University, is one of our local preachers, and regularly leads worship at St John's and encourages us to try new forms of worship.
